24th Annual Contemporary Issues in Emergency Medicine and Research Forum

Wednesday , March 26, 2025

Program Description:

This year's Contemporary Issue in Emergency Medicine conference will coincide with the Department's Research Forum. The keynote address will highlight how EM needs to rebrand itself. This will be followed by cutting edge topics in ultrasound and toxicology and then relevant patient-focused topics of cannabis and herbal medicine. The topics are chosen for their applicability to the practice of, and perceived interest by EMS providers, ED nurses and emergency physicians as well as other health care providers who deal with the sick or injured patient. Efforts are made to be inclusive of lecture material pertinent to all of these providers.

Program Objectives:

Following this activity, participants will be able to:

1)     Demonstrate how to use ultrasound to measure ejection fraction.

2)     Discuss and address cannabis-related illnesses with patients.

3)     Review and become familiar with herbal medicines.
