Program Description:
The Contemporary Issues in Emergency Medicine conference is an annual half-day presentation by the Department of Emergency Medicine at Upstate Medical University. This year’s focus is on Highlights of 2023-2024 Academic Year Emergency Medicine at its Best. The conference is developed keeping in mind the broad range of providers so vital to the success of the field of emergency medicine. The topics are chosen for their applicability to the practice of, and perceived interest by EMS providers, ED nurses and emergency physicians as well as other health care providers who deal with the sick or injured patient. Efforts are made to be inclusive of lecture material pertinent to all of these providers.
Program Objectives:
Following this activity, participants will be able to:
1)Recognize subtle STEMI equivalents.
2)Recognize bariatric surgery complications.
3)Know novel approaches to acetaminophen overdose.
