Newborn Resuscitation Course
Newborn Resuscitation Course
|
12/18 LEFT | $ 200.00 | |||||
A course For EMS providers by Neonatal Care ProfessionalsThis is a new course developed by neonatal & EMS experts (Sarah Curry NNP- NRP, Dusty Lynn RN- NR-P, and Dr. Alix Paget-Brown) that addresses the specific needs of the healthcare provider who may need to resuscitate a newly born in the out of hospital setting. Come join us as we present and encourage a lively discussion about birthing babies outside of the hospital environment. We will then have hands-on skills practice before we put it all together in simulation case studies. Besides our license and pre cite as a neonatologist, Neonatal nurse practitioner and experienced NICU nurse, we are also Paramedics, and are aware of the education provided in programs from Basic to Paramedic and can 100% say that there is a lack of content focused on neonates and pediatrics in general. Our class is specifically tailored to the EMS provider and the pre-hospital environment and every bit of information is pertinent (no fluff if you will). We are also aware that the fiscal abilities of every agency/department are different and know that the few products we recommend are on the cost effective side or have the ability to qualify for grants. We also discuss safe transport of the neonate and with new regulations going into effect, Though some studies suggests that 3%–8% of newborns receive respiratory support during the first few minutes of life, only 0.1%–0.3% will require advanced cardiopulmonary interventions at birth. As a pre-hospital healthcare provider, not only are these patient encounters there are few classes, if any hands-on classes that address the specific needs of an EMS provider. The NRC is a four hour in-person class on newborn resuscitation taught by experienced health care providers who have had both newborn resuscitation and EMS experience and is totally focused on newborn resuscitations that may occur outside of the hospital setting. Included Core SkillsAntenatal emergencies Postpartum bleeding Assessment of the Newborn Neonatal airway management Ventilation of the Newborn Circulatory Support for the Newborne Vascular Access Care of the premature infant Safety and transport of the newborn |

More than 6 million reportable crashes occur each year in the United States, resulting in 2 million injuries and more than 30,000 fatalities. When a crash can’t be prevented, the injury outcomes and impacts might be mitigated by access to medical care, protection of the scene, and preventing secondary crashes. Traffic Incident Management (TIM) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are important elements of post-crash care. Training for responders promotes a shared understanding of the recommended practices for safety at traffic incident scenes. In-person, web-based, and virtual training are all delivery methods for the National TIM Responder Training Program, which has reached over 700,000 TIM responders. The challenge is getting the EMS discipline across the country to attend the training. According to FHWA training records, EMS is lagging other responder disciplines with only 37.6% of expected responders trained Nationally. The EMS community in some individual states have embraced the TIM training and found success, but for most of the country, TIM training for EMS remains elusive. Additional TIM trainers and champions are needed to move this important safety program forward in the EMS community.
