Program Description
This activity is intended for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, advanced life support personnel and other health care professionals who may deal with the pediatric emergency patient.
Course Objectives
1)Be able to know and utilize various sedation options, while understanding mechanism of action, routes, onset, duration, and adverse reactions, specifically for peds patients.
2)Expand differentials and treatment plans for lesser known rashes/ skin findings.
3) Understand rates of vaccination compliance, incidence of vaccine preventable infections, optimize management of un/under-vaccinated children in acute scenarios (bleeding ,trauma, fever, rash).
4) Understand Peds case referral process to the Peds ED; analyze stepwise decision-making process when sharing patients with the Peds ED; improve effective communication with providers and families when sending to the ED
5) Understand and proactively address pre- and post- tropical travel elements to treat and keep patients healthy, while providing awareness of new disease processes occurring outside the USA
6) Understand pros and cons of Point of Care Ultrasound in the Peds ED, while recognizing which chief complaints are best served by POCUS.
