Idaho Prevention and Support Conference
-REGISTRATION IS FULL-
Please email cbrown@sde.idaho.gov to join waitlist
The 31st Annual Idaho Prevention and Support Conference (IPSC) is scheduled for April 16-18, 2025 at the beautiful Sun Valley Resort just outside of Ketchum, Idaho. IPSC provides professional development that focuses on innovation, best practices, collective problem-solving, and motivation techniques to effectively support historically underserved students. This statewide conference supports the many education professionals who are essential to the efforts of protecting, guiding, and championing children as they learn to overcome today’s challenges and develop compassion for themselves and those around them. Conference attendees include K-12 teachers, counselors, and administrators committed to creating safe and supportive learning environments for Idaho’s students.
This year’s conference will include a combination of the Learning Track format that was introduced last year and Open Sessions. This format was designed to provide participants the ability to dive into one track to expand their knowledge base, while still allowing the flexibility of open sessions to allow participants to select the topics that are best suited to their role or interests.
THURSDAY - LEARNING TRACKS
During registration, participants will be required to choose one of the following Learning Tracks to attend on Thursday:

CAMS Role-Play Training
CAMS Role-Play Training
|
|||||||
The Role-Play Training is designed to enhance knowledge regarding the philosophy and theory of the CAMS Framework® while providing an opportunity to practice in using the CAMS Framework with other individuals. This training is offered remotely through Zoom Video Conferencing for individuals as well as on site or remotely via Zoom for organizations. Our expert CAMS-care training consultants will demonstrate the use of CAMS in a live unscripted role-play which is based on actual patient experiences. Demonstrations will include the CAMS Assessment® of a patient and development of the CAMS Treatment® using the Suicide Status Form (SSF). Following each demonstration, participants will be paired up and given the opportunity to practice what has just been demonstrated by the training consultant. While participants are role-playing, our trainer “floats” from dyad to dyad, supporting their efforts to use CAMS, answering questions, and making helpful suggestions. |

QPR Train the Trainer
QPR Train the Trainer
|
|||||||
This certification course trains instructors to teach QPR for Suicide Prevention to their community. Participants first learn about the nature of suicidal communications, what forms these communications take and how they may be used as the stimulus for a QPR intervention. To gain perspective, participants are introduced to the history of suicide, suicide prevention and the spectrum of modern day public health suicide prevention education efforts. The history, background and research support for QPR are reviewed. Participants then learn to market QPR, target potential Gatekeepers, and how to teach the QPR curriculum. Participants also learn to deal with pent up audience demand to talk about suicide, survivor issues and how to make immediate interventions and referrals. Each participant has the opportunity for individual rehearsal and practice through role-plays. |
