Math Running Records: A Framework for Assessing and Promoting Basic Fact
Fluency in Grades K-5
The purpose of this training is to learn how to assess where students are
in their fluency of basic math facts and steps towards developing comprehensive
fluency. During this session teachers will learn how to complete an addition
running record and the implications for teaching addition and multiplication
fluency.
Presenter:
Leslie Buchanan just completed her 13th year in education. Her background consists of
teaching multiple grades and special education in Haywood and Jackson County. Five
years of her teaching career was spent at Riverbend Elementary School, a Title 1
Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon School. In 2020, Leslie became the Title
1 Lead Coach for Haywood County Schools for K-5 teachers in literacy and math. In
May of 2023, Leslie obtained her Master’s of School Administration and is currently
serving as an assistant principal at Canton Middle School. Leslie has a passion for
coaching teachers in order to propel all students towards their potential.
