Presented by Dr. Jon Rogers

Hosted by Southeast Oral Surgery & ZimVie

Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024

3 CE Credit Hours

Patient Assessment:

  • We will discuss assessing the patient’s overall oral health and history.
  • Look for signs of missing teeth, edentulous areas, or existing restorations.
  • Consider their overall health and any contraindications for implants.

Patient Communication:

  • Engage in open conversations with patients.
  • Ask about their dental concerns, desires, and expectations.
  • Discuss the benefits of dental implants and address any questions.

Referrals and Marketing:

  • Collaborate with referring dentists or specialists.
  • Utilize marketing materials (brochures, website) to educate patients.
  • Highlight successful implant cases to build patient confidence

Clinical Examination:

  • Evaluate bone quality and quantity using radiographs.
  • Assess soft tissue health and available space for implants.
  • Consider anatomical structures (sinuses, nerves) that may impact implant placement.

Treatment Planning:

  • Create a customized treatment plan.
  • Discuss options (single implants, bridges, overdentures).

  • Address financial aspects and insurance coverage.

Remember, personalized patient care and thorough assessments are key to successful implant treatment!

Digital Scans for Implant Impressions:

  • Digital scanning offers convenience and efficiency.
  • Ideal for limited-span implant fixed restorations (half an arch or up to three implants).
  • Minor variations during stitching can impact accuracy, especially in complex.

Closed Tray Impressions:

  • Similar to conventional tooth impressions.
  • Requires specially designed impression copings.
  • Open Tray vs. Closed Tray Techniques: Open tray: Copings remain in the impression tray during removal.
  • Considerations: For dentures, implants, and larger units, conventional impression techniques are preferred.

Scanning soft tissue and full arches with implants can be challenging

  • Remember, precise impressions are crucial for successful implant outcomes!
